On
SHARON BY THE SEA, Eva and Dusty have surrounded themselves with

including bassist Kevin Freeby, percussionist John Martin III,
Javon Davis on keyboards and Mark Summer on keyboards.

Mike
Marshall's Big Trio – buy
at cdbaby.com
After
thirty years of performing and recording, I have had the
opportunity to play with some of the finest acoustic musicians
in the world – musicians from a variety of styles who have
shown the way for future generations of players and even gone on
to create compete genres all their own. I place Alex and Paul on
the same shelf with this elite group. These are not just young
people. These are old souls with unique voices and complete
command of their instruments who are able to swing hard in a
variety of musical genres with grace and authenticity, power and
beauty. It has not been without continuous amazement and joy
that I have been able to play with these two guys and create
this music together. Their depth of musical understanding,
breadth of creativity and expression and just plain instrumental
‘chops’ was never short of astounding. We had a
complete BALL hangin’ out, cooking and playing for over a
month as we were arranging these tunes. If THIS is what the next
generation of string musicians is going to be doing, then I’m
riding with them. Let’s Go Guys! –– Mike
Marshall

Live
at Caramoor Jovino
Santos Neto & Weber Iago
For
nearly fifteen years, I have watched in amazement as the
Caramoor Jazz Festival has grown into one of the greatest
festivals in the world. Over this time, some of the
greatest jazz artists in the world have graced the stage at the
Venetian Theatre at Caramoor, and I wanted to make sure Jovino
and Weber were part of the 2007 festival.
The idea of
recording Jovino Santos Neto and Weber Iago together came as a
result of a series of extraordinary salon concerts that I
co-produced with Richard Zirinsky of Adventure Music at the
Fazioli Salon on piano row at Klavierhaus in New York City.
For
this holy night in July 2007, Richard and I decided, for the
first time ever in the States, to bring two Fazioli D308 concert
grand pianos to the stage, and let the music fly with two
masters on two masterpieces! Each Fazioli piano is hand made in
Italy and it takes nearly three years for one instrument to come
to life... and come to life they did with a program of music
that I am certain will knock you off your feet.
At the
end of the night, a great surprise happened when Joe Lovano came
onstage to join the pianists with an amazing version of “Wave,”
by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Special things happen in jazz at the
spur of the moment, and THIS was a surprise captured for the
ages. Jim Luce, Producer Caramoor Jazz
Festival

The remarkable
talents of guitarist and vocalist Toninho Horta and vocalist Tom
Lellis coalesce to create a delightful musical alliance on
Tonight, the duo's second collaboration for Adventure Music. A
native of Brazil, Horta, who has been lauded by Pat Metheny as
the Herbie Hancock of Bossa Nova guitarists, brings a
distinctive approach to both his natural and man-made
instruments, while the American-born Lellis, whose recent
releases have earned spots in the Jazziz Critics Poll ”Best
CDs of 2004” and ”Best CDs of 2006”
among many other critical accolades, contributes his richly
melodic and vibrant vocal style to Tonight's 14 tracks. Included
in the CD's repertoire are remarkable interpretations of such
standards as Percy Faith's ”Maybe September”,”Jobim's
”Dindi,” and Gershwinâ's ”Summertime,”
as well as original compositions from both artists

Revolving
Landscapes - Buy at cdbaby Jorge
Albuquerque, Marcos Amorim, Rafael Barata Revolving
Landscapes is Rio-based guitar master Marcos Amorim's third
release for Adventure Music, and his first for the label with a
new trio that features drummer Rafael Barata, who has recorded
with such legendary Brazilian artists as Rosa Passos, Edu Lobo,
Ivan Lins, and Mario Adnet, and bassist Jorge Albuquerque, who
has worked with Nestor Torres, Leo Gandelman and Antonio Adolfo.
While always true to the Brazilian influences that formed his
fluid and elegant style, Amorim has received critical acclaim
for his distinctive sound that is at once timeless and
contemporary. On Revolving Landscapes, he, Barata and
Albuquerque have fused their individual, impressive abilities to
craft a sensuous and intimate set of songs that are sure to
satisfy fans of Amorim's two previous Adventure Music releases,
Cris on the Farm and Sete Capelas, which were lauded as 'playful
and imaginative' (Popmatters.com) and a 'revelatory Brazilian
release' (Jazz Times).

Lucia
Pulido “This
recording weaves together several strands of Lucía
Pulido´s musical projects into a highly condensed and
expressive sound. Lucía Pulido and her musicians, all
based in New York City, have been pioneers in the creation of a
Colombian New York sound that has slowly consolidated over the
past decade. Lucía’s voice moves from festive
dances to funeral laments, contrasting songs that allow her to
explore the many nuances of her voice. Sudden changes in volume
and density, fluid dialogues with the musicians, the voice
overpowering the word at times, and at others, adding to its
poetic flight. The music is based on traditional songs from the
Colombian Caribbean, the Pacific Coast and the Eastern Plains
with arrangements mainly by Sebastián Cruz. We also find
explorations of the contrasting textures of voice and bass with
Stomu Takeishi. Like the different faces of a waning moon, this
recording explores the many ways in which Lucía and the
musicians she works with have crafted their music into a rich
exploration of her voice through experimental work made possible
by the cross-roads of places and musics, of migrating Colombian
traditions in flux.” Ana Maria Ochoa Gautier, Columbia
University
